Curriculum

The objective of the Dream Program is simple: to help students understand the Qur’an. Originally developed and taught by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan, and further enhanced by the instructors of the Dream Program, the 9-month long Dream curriculum is the most in-depth and comprehensive Arabic program offered at Bayyinah, which results in the greatest retention and mastery.

All elements of the program lead directly to its main objective – developing an understanding of the Quran. Students will leave the program with the following:

  • 80%+ Quranic vocabulary
  • 90%+ grammatical construction used in the Quran
  • 95%+ morphological forms used in the Quran
  • The ability to access and read tafsir at an intermediate-advanced level

Students will also leave with introductory knowledge of the following:

  • Arabic rhetoric (البلاغة)
  • Parables in the Quran (الأمثال)
  • Basics of reasons for revelation (أسباب النزول)
  • Nuanced and accurate Quran translation

Program Dates:

First Day of Class: September 10th, 2017

Daily Schedule:

The Dream program classes run five days a week:
Monday through Friday: 8:00am-2:00pm
Every Friday there is an exam that covers the week’s material.

Each day is divided into four periods:

  1. Lecture
  2. Immersion
  3. Reading
  4. Drills

Course Materials:

The Dream Program’s original class materials are a key component of the program’s success. Students use a series of textbooks created specifically by the Dream Staff. During each module, students have a textbook, workbook and reader. These three elements are harmonized to solidify conceptual understanding, offer students an opportunity to apply these concepts, and strengthen their comprehension from day one.

Instructors & Staff

Obaidullah Ahmad
Dream Instructor
Obaidullah Ahmad was born and raised in Long Island, NY. After graduating from Stony Brook University with a B.A. in Economics, Obaidullah enrolled in Bayyinah's Dream Program where he was among the top graduates of the first class of 2011. He has been the assistant instructor alongside Shaykh Abdul Nasir at Bayyinah’s Quran Intensive since completing the Dream Program. In 2015 Obaidullah graduated from Qalam Institute's 1-year Islamic Studies Seminary program. Currently, he serves as an instructor at the Dream program.
Abdullah Oduro
Dream Instructor
Sh. Abdullah Oduro is Islamic University at Madinah, Saudi Arabia, graduate. He has established KnewU – a non-profit organization for new Muslims which educates the new and non-Muslims intensively in Islamic studies. He also has experience in the medical field as an adjunct instructor for surgical technology & procedures. His area of interest and competencies are Problem-Solving, Mentorship, and Research. Currently, he serves as an instructor at the Dream program.
Khadeejah Bari
Dream Instructor, Student Affairs
Khadeejah Bari was born and raised in New York. After graduating from Barnard College with a degree in biological sciences, she began her Islamic education at the Islamic Center of NYU. In 2014, she graduated from the Bayyinah Dream program under Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan and went on to complete the Qalam Institute Islamic Studies Seminary program under Shaykh Abdul Nasir Jangda. Currently she serves as Director of Student Affairs and instructor at the Dream program.

Adam Jamal
Guest Instructor
Adam Jamal was born and raised in Houston, TX. He has been studying the Quran, Islam and Arabic for nearly 15 years. He has a degree in Islamic Studies and a Master's in Education. He joined Bayyinah in 2013 and headed the 9-month Dream Program for 3 years. Currently he works on productions for Bayyinah's online audience. He enjoys teaching, technology, traveling, and most of all learning from everyone he meets.
Nouman Ali Khan
Guest Instructor
Nouman Ali Khan is the founder and CEO of Bayyinah and serves as a lead instructor for a number of programs including traveling seminars and Bayyinah TV. His serious Arabic training began in the U.S. in 1999 under Dr. Abdus-Samie, founder and former principal of Quran College in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Nouman served as a professor of Arabic at Nassau Community College until 2006 when he decided to take Bayyinah on as a full-time project. Since then he has taught more than 10,000 students through traveling seminars and programs. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas and is focusing on teaching his students, developing Arabic curricula and filming material for Bayyinah TV.
Abdul Nasir Jangda

Abdul Nasir Jangda was born and raised in the Dallas area. He graduated from Jamia Binora’s Alim program in Karachi, Pakistan and holds an M.A. in Arabic from Karachi University as well as a Master’s of Islamic Studies degree from the University of Sindh. Abdul Nasir currently serves as an instructor for Bayyinah, is a founding member of Mansfield Islamic Center in Arlington and serves as a director for Qalam Institute. His current projects include Bayyinah’s Qur’an Intensive, Qalam’s one-year Seminary Program, and his extensive online Seerah course.
AbdelRahman Murphy

Ustadh AbdelRahman Murphy is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a Bachelor’s in Teaching of English and Religious Studies. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. He has served as a youth director, Muslim chaplain, and assistant imam in a full-time capacity since 2009. Currently, he is continuing his study of the Quran and Imam Ghazali’s text with Professor Omer Mozaffar, and is working to complete his coursework of the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum directly with Shaykh AbdulNasir Jangda.
Atif Imtiaz

Atif Imtiaz has a Bachelors degree in Physics from Stony Brook University and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland at College Park. He enjoys learning the Arabic language, Quran, Hadith and Islamic sciences. He completed the Dream program in 2015. He organizes and teaches the Quranic Studies portion of the curriculum. In addition, he is involved with other research projects at Bayyinah.
Mahad Qamar

Mahad Qamar is a Bayyinah Instructor and Researcher. He and his wife graduated from the Bayyinah Dream Program and then went on to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Fiqh and Usul ul Fiqh from the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). He has been teaching classes on the recitation of the Quran, Tafsir, the life of the Prophet Muhammad (s) and the Arabic language to students of all ages and backgrounds since 2010.
Safiya Ravat

Safiya Ravat is a Bayyinah Instructor and Researcher. Safiya studied under Shaykh Isam Rajab for two years at the Arees University. After graduating from the Bayyinah Dream Arabic program, she and her husband attained a degree in Fiqh and Usul ul Fiqh from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. Safiya also graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Houston and is currently a freelance journalist who enjoys writing about Fiqh and women's issues.
